Former Meadow Gold Site Remediation

Former Meadow Gold Site Remediation

Project Highlights:

Project Description:

The project began as an underground storage tank removal. When a petroleum, oil, lubricants (POL) release was encountered, the area of POL contamination was deliniated and a cost analyses addressing the POL contamination for two remedial options was prepared for submittal to the State Department of Health (DOH). We assisted our client during negotiations with the DOH regarding potential remediation techniques.

When DOH wanted immediate action, we characterized, excavated and disposed of 2,050 cy of POL-impacted soil, recovered free product, and treated groundwater with 1,275 pounds of Oxygen Release Compound (ORC) under an expedited six-week schedule.

Environet provided project management, personnel, services, and materials to remove the underground storage tank and associated piping. We conducted the follow-up site investigation, soil excavation and disposal and bioremediation of the groundwater. During the excavation, asbestos piping was encountered and proper packaging and disposal of this material was coordinated. We provided health and safety and quality control oversight for field activities.

The Removal Action Report prepared for this project is used by DOH as an example for how an Environmental Hazard Evaluation should be performed and how an Environmental Hazard Management Plan should be written.
